Three Rivers

It's the people that make our town of Three Rivers unique. Families who have lived here for three generations lend a sense of stability and maintain the historical perspective of our community. It's the transplants which arrive for jobs and light up industry with strong regional and international ties, while the local hospital and the Three Rivers School system bring new cultures and vibrance. It's the new-comers retiring here to their second home that provide an urban mindset to this rural idyllic community. It's the flavor of out-of-towners vacationing at the lakes and rivers, the ones who shop, play, and support this community and share its diversity.

Oh yes, there are three rivers -- the St. Joseph River, the Rocky River, and the Portage River. There are a couple creeks, seven navigable lakes, and ponds you stumble upon and have to ask, "Are there fish?" So yes, we have waterfront! The geography matches the splendor of the water with rolling hills, flat, fertile plains, and mature hardwood forests. We have four summer camps, four retreat centers, a marvelous health center (Health TRAC), and a great county park in our community called, Meyer Broadway Park.

Need some culture? We have a vibrant Carnegie Center for the Arts with classes and shows throughout the year. Need some entertainment? We have three venues for live theater and two movie theaters, one of which features a variety of indie films! We have two city festivals in the summer, plus a couple of parades for those that love to come together as a community. Plus, we are only 40 minutes away from major urban areas in any direction to further entertain and stimulate.

With a financially stable hospital, city, and school system, Three Rivers is embracing the future. Much energy is poured into the Historic District of our 150 year old downtown. The lovely Riverwalk is expanding with funding being sought after for a walk/bike trail, connecting the city to the county park. There's also a plan to build a community sports complex that will add so much more fun and enjoyment to the lives of our families here in Three Rivers.
